The Seiko SRPH80 “Brian May” is one of the most personal collaborations in Seiko’s recent history. Released in 2022 in tribute to Queen’s legendary guitarist, this limited edition is number 9002 of 12,500 pieces captures the spirit of his iconic “Red Special” guitar in both dial design and packaging.

The watch features a substantial 42.5mm stainless steel case with a gold-tone finish, measuring approximately 13.4mm thick. The dial presents a graduating red and black pressed-wood texture, evoking the guitar’s body, while the black unidirectional bezel completes the styling. Luminous hands and markers ensure legibility in all light conditions, alongside a day-date display at 3 o’clock. A screw-down crown at 4 o’clock ensures comfort and usability underwater, with water resistance rated at 100 meters.

Powering the SRPH80 is Seiko’s in-house 4R36 automatic calibre (known colloquially as NH35), featuring 24 jewels, hacking seconds, manual winding, and approximately 41 hours of power reserve. The exhibition case back displays Brian May’s signature and unique limited edition numbering.

The watch is presented on a distinctive black nylon strap featuring a guitar-string stripe pattern, secured by a gold-tone stainless steel tang buckle. It arrives as a collector’s full set, including special presentation box styled like a guitar case, with a replica sixpence coin as a nod to May’s own guitar plectrum.
