Omega Speedmaster First OMEGA in Space
Founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Omega is renowned for its precision, innovation, and deep connection to space exploration. The Speedmaster “First OMEGA in Space” pays tribute to the watch worn by astronaut Wally Schirra during the 1962 Sigma 7 mission, combining historic design cues with modern Master Chronometer performance.
The Omega Speedmaster “First OMEGA in Space”, reference 310.30.40.50.06.001, features a 39.7 mm stainless steel case with polished and brushed surfaces and a grey-blue dial with contrasting black subdials, inspired by vintage CK2998 models. It is powered by the hand-wound Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 3861, offering a 50-hour power reserve, a frequency of 21,600 vph, and METAS-certified precision, magnetic resistance, and reliability. Functions include hours, minutes, small seconds, and a chronograph with central seconds, 30-minute counter, and 12-hour counter.
A sapphire crystal on the front ensures clarity and scratch resistance, while the sapphire exhibition case back reveals the beautifully finished movement and special engravings dedicated to the “First OMEGA in Space” theme. The black aluminum tachymeter bezel with “Dot Over Ninety” maintains the classic Speedmaster identity. Water resistance of 50 meters and the compact case size make this model versatile for daily wear. The watch is fitted on a stainless steel flat-link bracelet with Omega’s comfort release adjustment system.
This Omega Speedmaster “First OMEGA in Space” from December 2024 is in near mint condition and comes as a full set.
