Founded in 1881 in Tokyo, Seiko has a watchmaking heritage spanning over 140 years, combining Japanese craftsmanship with a genuine passion for precision and design integrity. The Prospex line is the brand's dedicated sports and professional watch collection, and few releases within it carry as much cult status as the recreation of the legendary 6105-811X — affectionately known as "Captain Willard" after Martin Sheen's character in Apocalypse Now, and to many collectors simply "the Turtle".

The Seiko Prospex 1970 Diver's Re-Creation Limited Edition, reference SLA033J1, is a faithfully reproduced 45 mm stainless steel professional dive watch with a clean black dial featuring applied luminescent hour indices and slender hands — a layout kept deliberately unchanged from the original 1970 design, right down to the absence of a Prospex logo on the dial. The cushion-shaped case with its Zaratsu-polished bezel top and screw-down crown positioned at 4 o'clock, complete with the original "Lock" indication, gives this watch genuine vintage authenticity in a thoroughly modern build. At its heart beats the in-house Seiko Calibre 8L35, a hand-windable automatic movement with 26 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. A dual-curved sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating protects the dial — a clear upgrade over the original's Hardlex glass — while the case features Seiko's super-hard coating for added scratch resistance. Water resistance is rated at 200 metres. The watch is fitted on a black waffle-pattern silicone strap with a buckle clasp. Limited to 2,500 pieces worldwide, with the edition number engraved on the caseback.
