LumiBrite hands and markers ensure legibility in low light, with a perpetual calendar display at 3 o'clock. The black ceramic bezel enhances GPS signal reception — a functional detail that most wearers will never notice, but engineers will appreciate. At its heart beats the Seiko Calibre 8X22, a GPS Solar world time movement connecting to four GPS satellites to adjust time zone and local time automatically with an accuracy of one second per 100,000 years — across 40 time zones worldwide. A sapphire crystal with Seiko's proprietary super-clear anti-reflective coating protects the dial. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.
