Aquastar was founded in 1962 by Frédéric Robert, a veteran scuba diver, with the needs of aquatic sportsmen as its guiding principle. The Deepstar, introduced in the 1960s, was an early dive chronograph, and Jacques Cousteau and many of his Calypso crew wore Aquastars for nearly ten years. Collectors know it as the “Big Eye”, after its oversized 30-minute counter.

This vintage Deepstar “Big Eye” Chronograph is a 37,3 mm stainless steel skin-diver watch with a screw-down caseback. The slate-grey dial has white graphics and the large white 30-minute counter at three o’clock that gives the model its nickname. A small seconds hand turns at nine o’clock without a subdial of its own. At its heart beats the hand-wound Valjoux 23, a column-wheel chronograph movement. The rotating bezel completes the diver’s case. The watch is fitted on a new original Aquastar tropical rubber strap.

This vintage Aquastar Deepstar Big Eye is in very good vintage condition and comes with a full service and a new original Aquastar tropical rubber strap. An absolute must have in vintage collection of divewatches!
