Tudor Ranger
Founded in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf in Geneva, Tudor has grown into a fully independent manufacture with a strong identity and an increasingly devoted collector following. The Ranger, first introduced in the 1960s as a robust expedition tool watch and revived in 2022 to mark the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition, is one of Tudor's most characterful and purposeful modern references — a watch with a genuine story behind it.
The Tudor Ranger, reference M79950-0001, is a well-executed 39 mm fully brushed stainless steel tool watch with a nicely structured matte black domed dial featuring painted beige Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, baton and syringe hour markers filled with beige Super-LumiNova and a distinctive red-tipped seconds hand — a detail that adds a subtle but satisfying dash of character. The fully brushed case without a polished surface gives this Ranger a deliberately understated and purposeful feel. At its heart beats the COSC-certified Tudor Manufacture Calibre MT5402, featuring a silicon balance spring and bidirectional rotor, running at 28,800 vph with an impressive 70-hour power reserve. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres. The watch is fitted on a satin-finished stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp and the T-fit rapid adjustment system.
This Ranger is from 2023, is in near mint condition and comes as a full set.
