Tudor was founded in Geneva in 1926 as a sister brand to Rolex, built to offer Swiss-made professional tool watches at a more accessible price point. The Black Bay Chrono, first introduced in 2017 and significantly updated in 2021 with a slimmer case, new bi-compax dial layout and black anodised aluminium bezel, is Tudor’s most accomplished sporting chronograph. The reverse panda execution — black dial with contrasting silver subdials — is the most purposeful and dramatic of the two dial configurations, drawing directly from the instrument panels of vintage racing cars.

Reference M79360N-0001 is a 41 mm stainless steel automatic chronograph, 14.4 mm in thickness, with a brushed and polished case, screw-down crown and screw-down pushers at two and four o’clock. The black domed dial carries Tudor’s signature rhodium-plated snowflake hands and applied luminescent hour markers, with two recessed silver-tone subdials: a 45-minute chronograph counter at three and a small seconds register at nine, alongside a date window at six. At its heart beats the Tudor Manufacture Calibre MT5813, COSC-certified, with a column-wheel mechanism, vertical clutch and 70-hour power reserve. The ultra-domed sapphire crystal sits above a solid screw-in caseback. The fixed stainless steel bezel carries a black anodised aluminium insert with a silver tachymeter scale. Water resistance is rated to 200 metres. The watch is fitted on a stainless steel Oyster style bracelet.
