The Rolex Air-king, first produced in 1945 with reference 4925, is the only survivor of four watches introduced to honor British Royal Air Force pilots for the Battle of Britain during World War II. In addition to the Air-King, the "Air Series" consisted of the Air-Lion, the Air-Giant, and the Air-Tiger. The Air-King has always been closely associated with aviation and its pilots, the watch was regularly given as gifts to retired pilots by companies such as Pan-Am.
